Jeanette Marie Spurlock

Candidate For

 U.S. Congress; South Carolina’s District 7

A Platform We Can All Get Behind

My Top 3 Priorities to Elevate District 7

Economic Growth:

-Manufacturing: One thing that is clear, manufacturing was once a big thing here. But now, many factories have shut down and/or have moved somewhere else. I want to get to the bottom of why, but most importantly, what will it take to get them to come back? I will forge forward, doing what needs to be done to get them back. Get out the scissors, WE have some red tape to cut!!

-Medical Specialists: As our population grows, so will our need for specialized medical care. To often, you hear that someone has had to travel outside District 7, and sometimes out of South Carolina all together, to get the medical care they need. We owe it to ourselves to be able to find adequate care from trusted sources right here where we live, and we cannot rest till that is accomplished.

-Schools: Not only do we need additional public schools with staff that is dedicated to leaving no child behind, but we also need more options for trade schools. Trade school graduates can earn 36k - 97k plus dollars a year, after 1-2 years of learning, without the need of any college courses. Education and the ability to get hands on training will be the most important aspect of growing our economy.

Social Service Reform:

After digging deeply into our social service programs, I am concerned that we have no exit strategy for those who hit a tough spot in life. Once you go on a government assisted program, it is difficult to get off it. Never should we handicap those that need help, from being able to get back out on their own, but that is exactly what we are doing to them. I am saddened that no one is working towards creating an exit plan to get people back on their feet, but that ends with me. My main goal is to get people trained in a trade that will give them the confidence they need to live a lifestyle that not only are they proud of, but their children will learn from and then, instill those life lessons into the generations to come.

Being an advocate to Local Leadership:

I am devoted to becoming an ally to our local leadership, to ensure that we are accomplishing plans for much needed help in District 7. Every county in District 7 has needs and I want an open-door policy to assure our leaders that they have someone to turn to in DC.  Plans for real infrastructure, solutions to flooding, funding for emergency workers, taxation issues, growth plans and resources and ending government over-reach are just a few of the things that our local leaders need support accomplishing and I am here to help get those good plans through.

This is just the beginning of what is to come!

If I did not hit on something that is important to you, email, text or call me! We need to talk!
